To succeed, it is often necessary to learn from those who have already made it. Mentorship is an incredible blessing for entrepreneurs, but not everyone can find one in person. Falesha is a well-accomplished serial entrepreneur and businesswoman who owns dozens of companies under her name. She is a mentor for inspiring women to build their careers as businesswomen under her guidance.
As a recognized leader, Falesha credits several factors for her success, including her strong mindset, determination, and perseverance. Falesha says that the life of a serial entrepreneur is not easy, so if you want to start your career as an entrepreneur, you have to be ready to overcome a lot of obstacles.
There will still be some challenges a young entrepreneur without experience cannot handle, even if the idea is great. Falesha says that “During my career, I have relied heavily on the wisdom of others: friends, family, colleagues, and successful business leaders I admire.” So, to help young and new entrepreneurs, here are some tips I received along the way.
According to Falesha, the three things that enabled her to achieve her goals include:
1. Focus on what you do well
Your previous experience is not the only source of ideas, but if you have previous experience and strengths, you might want to put them to good use. Follow your passion and focus on your strengths.
Falesha says, “I first started my dancing company Diva Diverse when I was just 15, I started it because I loved dancing and I still do, and because of my passion I was able to make it a success.”
2. Don’t Let Obstacles Keep You From Getting Started
You’re bound to face obstacles no matter what you do in life. And those who overcome those hindrances are bound to succeed. Having no safety net is one of the most challenging things about starting a business; entrepreneurship is a trial by fire. But it is also the most valuable lesson you will ever learn.
Falesha faced many obstacles on her journey as a serial entrepreneur. But those obstacles didn’t demotivate her to begin her business. She advises people not to let the fear of obstacles hinder their step towards getting started, because with every failure and disappointment comes success.
3. Embrace the challenge
We cannot determine the outcome of our work until we do it. Challenges are part of life that every person has to face no matter how careful or reckless they are in life.
Falesha learned this from her personal experience. The challenges helped her to realize that she would regret not trying rather than not trying at all. She says that “Once I set my mind on something, I do everything within my power to get there.”
So, to become a successful entrepreneur one has to be open to embracing challenges in life. You can learn more about how you can embrace challenges from her book ‘Her Vision: USING THE D.I.V.A. FRAMEWORK FOR AN INSPIRED LIFE AND BUSINESS’. This book details all the experiences that Falesha faced as a serial entrepreneur. Her DIVA framework has become an inspiration for many readers to apply in their lives for success.
