Finding your life’s passion and having the courage and power to pursue it is perhaps the best thing that could happen to you in this world. After all, passion is what keeps you going. It enables you to create and inspire the community around you and make a difference in ways you could not have imagined otherwise.
Jason Borkland’s life took a new turn when he pursued his passion for adventure. The daring diver grew up in Austin, Texas, where he owns and operates a multiple-location collision repair facility specializing in repairing high-end autos. Heritage Body and Frame is his family-owned business and was established in 1986. Despite running a fully operational business, Jason constantly desired to explore his adventurous side, and becoming a technical diver helped him do precisely that.
Jason began to teach other people how to dive as well. He works hard to provide the best possible training for diving and is famous for quality instruction. People around him wonder how he remains fearless of diving in some of the most challenging situations with known and unknown terrors under the oceans.
According to Jason, “Life is all about preprogrammed fears we have. Afraid of this, afraid of that. When you have seen it all end, and it is still okay, you stand back up and say do it again. Except for this time, I know I will be okay.”
Jason’s passion for diving has enabled him to capture some of the most gripping images and videos under the sea. For his remarkable underwater photography, he has won GoPro awards multiple times. He has also collaborated with the scientific community and gained experience in underwater tagging of Tiger Sharks, Hammerhead sharks, Giant Mantas, and Galapagos sharks. He also assists in doing so above water as well. During his work as a diver, Jason discovered the talent and opportunity for marine life photography and videography. Watching the beautiful sights through his eyes compels him to share them with others on the ground.
Apart from the spectacular glimpses of oceanic life, Jason also works hard to use his voice and imagery to highlight ocean conservation. He has advocated and assisted local governments in areas like Costa Rica to preserve natural areas against overfishing. He has also partnered with various film projects and filmed alongside the underwater film industry on Nat Geo and Discovery channel.
Today, his passion for diving is closely associated with his unwavering commitment to marine conservation. His experience as a diver includes Belize, Bahamas, Cancun, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guadalupe Island, and many more. Jason’s travels have inspired him to take a more significant role in protecting marine life.
