Financial freedom means living without fear. Setting up reliable income streams and having control over your money is a task one must master in order to live without fear. Financial literacy is the key to managing money effectively as it equips us with the knowledge and skills required to make solid financial decisions. It is absolutely vital for long-term success, and oddly, nearly half of the Americans are financially illiterate.
Research has proven that financially literate individuals end up with lower student loan defaults, suffer from lower financial stress, and perform better academically. Financial literacy programs prevent dropouts and help students manage their finances for their entire life. An advocate of financial freedom, Talaya Scott is a black woman hailing from Milwaukee and is working hard to improve her community’s rate of financial literacy.
Talaya is an established accountant, having served the United States Air Force for eight years in Military Finance and one of the prestigious Big 4 accounting firms, Ernst & Young LLP. She has sound knowledge of all things related to money, and her past emotional experiences with a lack of finances have taught her a great deal about mastering finances.
One of her biggest contributions to increasing financial literacy in the community is her education company, FIIT Perspective, which offers comprehensive financial education courses for individuals and small businesses. The courses are intended to help clients find financial freedom through financial education. They equip the clients with the essential tools to reinvent their relationship with money and be the boss of their finances.
Talaya also promotes financial literacy on her website and social media platforms. An entertaining and vibrant personality, she effectively communicates and influences her followers, making them understand the basics of financial literacy. She is also a regular speaker at events across Wisconsin and is seen contributing extensively to help people escape from the shackles of financial constraints.
Talaya has taken a step further and published her self-help book, which highlights her struggles with money and how it shaped her into the woman she is today. An absolute delight to read, her story is full of some hardcore life lessons. The best thing about the book is that it informs and educates the reader on how to implement the financial lessons in their lives.
Her endless contributions to make an impact in raising financial literacy are truly noteworthy, and we wish her all the luck in transforming lives.
