If we analyze the character of Rahul Maharaj, now an esteemed motivational and mental health speaker, and try to find some fictional references for it in the world of superheroes, we’ll get a blend of superpowers and heroic traits – an extremely forbearing individual, a dogged soul, and a sympathetic human being with an innate ability to connect with others.
These are the traits, or powers that have not only helped him in different phases of his own life but also enabled Rahul to change the life of many other individuals.
He grew up being bullied, but his strength and forbearance never withered away. It was excruciating, but he never bothered to stay on it any longer than needed because deep inside, Rahul knew he was made for bigger things; something his bullies and abusers had no idea of. He had bigger dreams to achieve and the dogged soul that he is; he just couldn’t let anyone take them away from him.
He pursued his dreams like a moth chases flame. One of which was to move to the US and meet relatives he’d longed for. Rahul didn’t want to make a career in Trinidad and Tobago, his home country, replete with toxic memories. Ultimately, when the calendar hit a milestone of reaching 2000 years, Rahul flew away to the US, fulfilling one of his dreams with many still resting in his eyes.
As soon as he landed in America, Rahul kick-started his hustle to achieve a self-sufficient, meaningful, and independent life. He joined a construction company as a manager and served it for 11 years before moving to financial services. A tech-savvy guy who had graduated in computer science was exploring different possibilities, or in other words, he chose whatever sailed his boat.
And then, life happened; his financial business came to standstill, forcing him to look for other ways, eventually settling for a daycare business. However, it transpired to be a mirage, leaving Rahul in the doldrums.
This was the time, he would later share, when he even contemplated suicide. Failed relationships, unproductive businesses, and a rudderless life – all coalesced to make matters worse. But, as we have learned before, Rahul is not a QUITTER.
However troubling, he persevered and in 2017, three years after opening a daycare business, he finally reaped some of its fruits.
After that, when he got the space, he embarked on achieving his next dream – Your Life Experiences With Rah! A show that is designated as an open place for masses to come and share stories and how they finally entered a light-filled life after suffering alone in bleak darkness. Rahul had always dreamed of such a platform, but unfortunately, there was none. As much as mental health was a predicament, society wasn’t ready to address it. So he took the step, and now, he’s loved for it worldwide!
Rahul’s next dream is to see “YLEWRAH” (Your Life Experiences With Rah) written in big blocks on the Freedom Tower where he wants to settle his office. Any doubts he won’t get that too? Yeah, you guessed it right; sooner or later, he definitely will!
