We all have stories to tell. Each and every one of us. But where we get stuck isn’t in having a story, it’s in how to tell the story. This is where Katie Mack, Founder of Somehow9am Productions, comes in.
Working in theater-making and podcast spheres for over a decade, Mack is a natural onstage presence and a great storyteller with the awards to back it up. Her mission is to provide a platform for artists to enable them to bring their first works to life and to encourage the sharing of personal narratives. Mack started her agency to help clients with every step of the creative process, from coming up with ideas, script writing, creating production goals, hiring, and making the final product.
What prompted her to imagine a creative firm in the first place?
Mack states that before she discovered she was not alone in this fight, she formed Somehow9am production to produce her own art. “I realized that many other people were struggling to articulate their writing and were stuck between wanting and doing,” said Mack. Think of us as your artist-doula, from the project’s conception to its birth in the world. “The goal of Somehow9am is to give access to anyone who wants to tell a story,” she added.
She enjoys inspiring others to find their inner artist. Mack realized that the annoying space of talking about the same project over and over again was her favorite place to be in. To “sit in the mud” with her clients to help them get unstuck and into action.
In addition, Mack is all set to take her work to the next level with her upcoming solo off-broadway show, #UglyCry: grief hits different now. It will be an extraordinary event that requires audiences to use their personal phones and social media accounts to experience this event to the fullest. The shocking death of Mack’s ex-boyfriend, Eric, inspired this 90-minute interactive show, which will allow people to interact with Mack and Eric. The show is her way of mobilizing people to mourn together, especially when we need it the most.
This groundbreaking series, produced by off the WALL productions will debut at Carnegie Stage in Pittsburgh September 22nd-October 14th and at The Chain Theater NYC October 28th-November 18th, 2023.
Katie Mack and Somehow9am Productions want to hear your story, and help you actually make the thing. Every problem is masked as an opportunity, so let’s highlight the good together, and make the thing.
