Hair is an essential part of one’s personality; a stunning haircut or hair stylist alters a person’s aura for the better, making one feel confident. Many people love to experiment with hair and play with different hair tools, wishing to convert their favorite pastime into a career.

Entrepreneur and hair stylist Nichole Magana initially started hairstyling to pay off her college tuition and soon realized her passion. She embarked on a journey to become a full-time hairstylist and loctician, building her successful venture, Crowned by Chole.

For anyone wanting to make it big as a hairstylist, Nichole shares a few tips from her personal experience to ensure long-term success.

Solid technical skills

Choley believes that to master any craft, it is imperative to have a strong hold on the technical elements and perfect them as much as possible. As a hairstylist, one needs to have a hold on the technical skills that can make you confident in your skin.

Never stop learning

No matter how good you are at something, there is always room for improvement. Choley states that you must commit to learning wholeheartedly in a formal classroom or from your surroundings.

Be unafraid

Choley has been able to accomplish triumph because of her courageousness. That is why she advises people to be unafraid, not let fear dictate their lives, and avoid making mistakes. If a hairstyle doesn’t turn out as you intended, figure out why and learn from it.

Pay attention to the client’s preferences.

Satisfying the client is the most crucial aspect of running a successful business. Choley says that as a hairstylist, one must pay attention to what the client prefers and if they have any specific dos and don’ts. If you think some different hairstyle would better suit the client’s hair and facial features, don’t be shy in giving your expertise.

Market your skills

Social media is a powerful tool that conveys your message and content, which Choley believes should be used. She advises creating social media accounts on Instagram and Facebook for your hairstyling business to generate more clients. Regularly update the accounts, post before and after shots of the hairstyles you have created, and show your skills to the world.

Keep a positive attitude

Last but not least, a way to reach your goal forward is by keeping a positive attitude. Your personality reflects in your business and also helps you attract growth. Hence, Choley believes in projecting a positive attitude and energy, which will definitely attract lots of clients.
